摘要:In May 1869, the first issue of the Transactions and Proceedings of the New Zealand Institute, the precursor journal to the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, was published byJames Hector. In 2017, the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand marked the sesquicentenary of Royal Society Te Apārangi by looking back to this landmark publication and publishing five modern reviews on subjects mostly overlapping with topics in the first volume. In hiseditorial to this volume, Ewan Fordyce (2017) noted the benefits to these early researchers ofbeing able to publish locally on New Zealand topics, and the fields of research that have developed over the last 150 years.
