  • 摘要:Heavy metal pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems today due to its difficultyin removal, especially in aquatic environments. The technologies for heavy metal ion removal from aqueoussolutions are, chemical treatment, physico-chemical treatment and biological treatment. However, the existingmethods are relatively expensive. Therefore, there is an urgency that some environmentally sound andpractically feasible technologies or sorbents are needed to be developed. In this study, a modifiedmontmorillonite was used for the removal of Cd 2+ ions from aqueous solutions. The influence of variousoperating parameters on the adsorption process was investigated. The kinetics and equilibrium adsorptionof Cd 2+ ions from aqueous solutions using the modified montmorillonite were also discussed in detail. Theobjective of this study is to provide fundamental information on the adsorption of heavy metals from aqueoussolution on the modified montmorillonite and to investigate the possible mechanisms.
