摘要:The study was conducted to assess synergetic effect of inbreeding and temperature variability on biotic potential of Walia ibex (Capra walie) at Simien Mountains National Park (SMNP), in Ethiopia. Census data and different models were used to quantify these effects. The results revealed that the mean biotic potential of Walia ibex (C. walie) per year was too low (0.033 ± 0.04) and, was negatively affected by both temperature variability (r = -0.347, p > 0.05) and inbreeding coefficients (r = -0.284, p > 0.05). However, the synergetic effect of temperature variability and inbreeding coefficients were intense and significant (r = 0.709, p < 0.05). Linear regression models were also fitted to correlate biotic potentials to inbreeding coefficients and temperature variability. The result revealed that as temperature variability and the population with additional alleles identical by descent increases by one unit per year, the biotic potentials of C. walie were affected negatively by -0.331 and -0.659 units per year. From the results of the study, it could be concluded that the synergetic effect of inbreeding and environmental stress was higher than independent effects of inbreeding and climate variability on C. walie population.
