摘要:Velocity shear electrostatic ion cyclotron instability has been studied in the region of auroral ionosphere in the presence of perpendicular A.C. electric field for higher harmonics. The expression for dispersion relation and growth rate has been derived by using the method of characteristic solutions and kinetic approach. The effect of A.C. frequency and velocity shear scale length for higher harmonics has been discussed in the result. The different results are obtained in this case compare with inhomogeneous D.C. electric field. we find that while in the presence of D.C. electric field, the growth rate decreases with the increase of harmonics and the instability is excited for value i ρ k ⊥ >1 in short wave length region, the presence of AC electric field increases the growth rate with increase of harmonics and instability is excited for i ρ k ⊥ >1 for a wide range of wave length region.
