摘要:Taking a test that requires effortful retrieval has been shown to improve retention of knowledgewhen it is incorporated into the learning process. Recent research has explored the contributions ofstudying versus testing to long-term maintenance of learning among healthy adults (Karpicke &Roediger, 2007), but few studies have investigated this ‘testing effect’ in neurologically impairedpopulations. If testing can be shown to increase maintenance of learning in cognitive rehabilitation,it could be employed as a simple and cost-effective method to improve a variety of treatments.
