摘要:Semantic dementia (SD) is a neurodegenerative disorder mainly characterized by a deterioration in semantic memory. The predominant features of SD are anomia, impaired word comprehension, prosopagnosia and associative agnosia (Neary et al., 1998). Conventional language therapy in SD usually results in modest improvements in language-based performance. However, SD patients could benefit from an ecological intervention that focuses on their needs in everyday activities. The use of new technologies to achieve ecological intervention goals seems promising. This case study investigated the effectiveness of using a smartphone in SD rehabilitation as a compensation strategy. More precisely, the goals were to help a person suffering from SD use a smartphone to: 1) retrieve semantic information essential to comprehension and naming; and 2) retrieve the names of individuals met at work.
