摘要：The emphasis gave to family questions nowadays requires from health professionals to search theoretical referentials that approach family in their specificity in order to subsidize professional activities. This study aims to describe main features of family development theory, caring out a exercise of applicability to experimented situations by authors in daily life activity with families at health center and to identify possibilities and challenges to converge theory and practice in health field. It is a theoretical reflex ion and the authors identifies as a positive aspects the concepts of family, the maturity situational crises the familiar career idea. Among the emptiness was verified the health/disease concept absence and absences of subsides on maturity crises. As a challenger to the theory expansion the intensiveness of existing concepts or few develop concepts discussion is suggested. Further more the authors proposes the appliance of theory in to different situations at health care services, in order to verify its adequacy in attending families.
