摘要：This study aimed to show thecomprehension that patients bearing vitiligohave over their condition, also assessing theassociation with their health and diseaseconcepts. It is a qualitative research withdescriptive and exploratory purposes,carried out from an epidemiological surveythroughout the years of 2010-2013, withrecords from a dermatology outpatientcare sector of a seminal hospital locatedin the city of Campina Grande – Paraíba,Brazil. It was identified that from the 832existing records, 13 were of vitiligo patientsand, from them, eight agreed to be partof this study, answering a semi-structuredquestionnaire. Data examination wasmade using the Thematic Content Analysistechnique, identifying four categories.Results indicated that the process of beingstricken with the disease is directly relatedto social practices that target the “stained”subject, over whom vitiligo has imprintedits patches.
