摘要：Climate change’ caused by anthropogenic activities is going to cause a major impact on water, forest, biodiversity, agricultural productivity and human health. A large number of scientific studies and IPCC’s (Inter Governmental Panel on Climate Change) fourth assessment reports are now available. According to these documents global climate change is unequivocally proved as a ‘reality’. However, the predicted impacts are going to be wildly different in different parts of the world, on different sectors and in different time frames. It is important to understand the precise impact on different sectors to design preventive, mitigative and adaptation strategies. An attempt is made in the present paper to collect and collate the data from all possible sources and critically examine to present a clear and precise picture of climate change effect on two of India’s major sectors- water resources and biodiversity (including forests).
