摘要:This paper is an analysis of the folk tale “The Monster (animal) as Husband” (N.º 425 A in the Aarne-Thompson International Catalog). The synchronic analysis developed here concerns two different versions of this tale, collected from the oral tradition of Spanish-speaking people in the Araucanía region of southern Chile. The tale is also approached diachronically. The authors reveal intertextual relations that facilitate both a better interpretation of the tale and the understanding that its structure deviates from the model proposed by Propp, in spite of the presence of magic elements in the tale.
