摘要:Microbial fuel cells (MFC) have drawn a lot of attention in recent years as a mode converting organic waste including low-strenght wastewater and lignocellulosic biomass into electricity. MFC has a potential to be a valuable bioenergy because its importance for generating electric current from wide range of soluble complex organic wastes and renewable energy. Thus, MFC might contribute to solve energy crisis in the future. The aims of this research is to obtain ammonification bacteria from domestic wastewater to generate bioelectricity and to analyze the electricity activity under MFC system. Ammonification bacteria was directly isolated and screened based on their ammonium-producing activity. Bioelectricity generation was evaluated in a dual chambered MFC (anode chamber (mediatorless; perforated plain graphite electrode); cathode chamber) with proton exchange membrane (PEM). Bioelectricity (voltage) produced from each concentration of inoculums consortia of ammonification bacteria (5, 10, 15%, v/v) was analyzed for ammonium, biomass, pH and temperature. Six isolates showed the ability to degrade organic compounds in domestic wastewater to produce electricity. Maximum bioelectricity was produced by 15% (v/v) with electrical voltage of 938 mV and ammonium concentration 362.18 mg/L, biomass 3,738 × 108 (CFU/mL) at 28 - 29 ℃ temperature range.
