摘要：In this paper, the relationship between subsidiaries of foreign multinational corporations in Brazil and corporate social responsibility (CSR) is analyzed. The relationship between the latter two takes into account two recurring phenomena in the managerial environment: the emergence of multinational corporations and the imminent awareness of social and environmental issues. Therefore, this paper aims to present a panorama which shows the analysis between CSR and organizational characteristics in subsidiaries. The following hypotheses were developed: (1) the greater the subsidiary autonomy, the greater its CSR, (2) the greater the headquarters-subsidiary integration, the greater the CSR of the subsidiary, (3) the greater the subsidiary’s strategic relevance, the greater its CSR, and (4) the more developed the country of origin headquarters are, the greater the CSR of its subsidiary. As hypotheses 1 and 4 had no empirical support, the conclusions related to the study are: (i) the more autonomous it becomes, the less the subsidiary develops CSR; and (ii) the country headquarters’ development does not influence the presence of CSR in the subsidiary.
