摘要：This study aimed to provide a better understanding of the relationship between service delivery and local economic development (LED). It investigated the extent to which service delivery in Mamelodi has contributed to employment and business development. It examined the local economic development theories and evaluated the historical development and evolution of LED in the world, Africa and South Africa. The study also determined, through assessment of available information, whether or not some of the areas in Mamelodi were receiving services from the municipality or local government to sustain local economic development. The method used in the study is deductive since it starts with reviewing literature on the relationship between service delivery and LED in the world and proceeds to Mamelodi Township. The study found that there is a strong relationship between service delivery and LED.
