摘要:This thesis entitled “Strategies of Five Successful EFL Learners in Learning EnglishVocabulary,” is a study about how EFL Learners develop, improve and maintain their Englishvocabulary. The aim of this study is to find out the learning strategies used by the five EFLlearners to develop, improve and maintain their English vocabulary. The strategies consist ofmeta-cognitive, cognitive and social mediation/ affective. The subjects were five EFL learners ofGunadarma University. The subject were picked out by the researcher because they have abilityin English and have GPA of >3, 00and have TOEFL Equivalent score of > 500. The instrument used to collect data was theinterview guide. In addition, in-depth interview was conducted to discover detail informationfrom the subject. The subjects were asked to tell their strategies in developing, improving, andmaintaining their English vocabulary. The result of this study shows that English learners haveconsciously done certain strategies during their process of learning L2 to develop, improve, andmaintain their English vocabulary. Suggestion proposed on the basis of the result and discussionare addressed to English for language teaching practitioners as well as. To other researchers whowish to pursue related topics in further research. These suggestions concern the importance ofgiving information about learning strategies used by five EFL learners to their students. Inaddition, it is also necessary to conduct a further action research on training the use of metacognitivestrategies, cognitive strategies, and social/ affective strategies
