摘要:The word that is a single word which has more than one function. It canfunction as a demonstrative pronoun or determiner which points to things,people or situations. It can also functions a a conjunction used in a noun clause.The word that is also used as a relative pronoun in an adjective clause. Whatare the equivalents of the word that with its different functions intoIndonesian is the problem of this scientific research. Based on the problem, theaim is to find out the equivalents of the word that in the Indonesian terms. Inthis research, the writer uses descriptive qualitative method. The method coverscollecting, arranging, classifying, analyzing and interpreting the data. All of thedata were taken from a novel by Agatha Christie entitled Appointment withDeath. The result of the research shows that there are six classifications ofequivalents of the word that in terms of the function as demonstrativepronoun or determiner into Indonesian, they are: itu, itulah, begitu, suffix-nya, ini, and nil translation. As conjunction, the equivalents of the wordthat are bahwa and nil translation. The equivalent of the word that asrelative pronoun is the word yang. There are also other equivalents of theword that into Indonesian, such as lagi, agar, and bila. Key Words: Equivalence, Word, That
