摘要：English is very important to be learned bymany people in the world especially forIndonesian people where they do notspeak it in their daily life. Today, Englishhas become a second language by most ofpeople. It is also used in many aspectssuch as in the Economic, politic, social,culture, and mainly in Education. Theaims of the study are to explain about thekinds of teaching method that are used andthe writer also would like to describe thedifficulties encountered by the lecturer inteaching English in the first year studentson the Faculty of Computer Science(1KB02) at Gunadarma University. To getthe specific data, the writer uses two kindsof methods, which are field research(observation and interview with thelecturer of 1KB02 at GunadarmaUniversity) and library research (searchand read the books and resources to getmore specific and complete data to shovethis research paper). The methods ofteaching English that applied at theFaculty of Computer Science (1KB02) atGunadarma University are direct methodand communicative method. Thedifficulties that encountered by the lecturerare the amount of the class that is toomany, and the ability of the students that isnot the same. The result from the researchat Gunadarma University with thosemethods are available to used for studentsof (1KB02) because the materials will beeasier to be understood by the students.
