摘要：ABSTRACT :Novel can represent human life and could be their inspiration who has read it.Basically, novel is a media to share what authors wants to write or feel. Anovel consists of many stories. They are about friendship, love, tragedy,mystery, murder, comedy and so on. Aims of the study are to describe kinds ofconflict and to describe kinds of setting that occurred in the novel entitled Deckthe Halls. The method that was used by the writer in this study is qualitativemethod. The source of data is a novel entitled Deck the Halls and the novel istreated as a primary data. Result of this study shows that setting and conflict aredivided into different aspects and different definition. The conflict is dividedinto two kinds; there are social conflict and psychic conflict. Meanwhile, settingis divided into five kinds, there are setting of time, setting of place, setting oftools, setting of environment existence and setting of system social existence.
