摘要：Translation is very difficult and tiring work, but the writer wants to learn itbecause it will increase our knowledge of translation. The research paper is totranslate the English novel entitled The Chamber written by John Grishaminto Indonesian. The writer chooses the novel of The Chamber because it is veryinteresting to read and to know. The novel The Chamber tells about anidealist young lawyer travels to Mississippi to plea for the life of an inmatescheduled to die in the gas chamber in four weeks. The aim of study are to knowhow to translate from English into Indonesian correctly, to find out the problemsin the process of translation and their solution. To translate this novel, the writeruses the library research by reading a novel The Chamber, collecting datafrom the novel, theories of translation, internet, and then reanalyzing thetranslation whether it is already correct or not. After translating the novel of TheChamber, the writer finds many problems, such as : idiomatic expressions,cultural contexts, situational contexts, and grammatical structures. To solve theproblems the writer uses dictionaries, theories of translation, internet and then,the writer tries to discuss it with her advisor.
