摘要：ABSTRACT :In this research paper, the writer tries to find out the equivalents of English verbbe by examining two versions novels, which are Morning, Noon and Nightby Sidney Sheldon and Pagi, Siang dan Malam by Hendarto Setiadi. Thewriter uses qualitative method as the research method because the result of theanalysis is in words. Based on the functions, English verb be has two functions,which are: as a linking verb and as an auxiliary verb. Be also has severaldifferent meanings if it is translated into Indonesian. From a hundred data(sentences that containing the verb be), be as linking verb is translated intoada(6), tersedia(1), adalah(2), merupakan(2), termasuk(1), terletak(1),memang(3), apakah(2), and as the auxiliary verb, all of the verbs be are nottranslated
