摘要：ABSTRACT :Vocabulary is an important element in language. So, in the first step to learnEnglish is learning vocabulary because it is very prominent in language and it isalways taught in language classes. Therefore it is very important to learnvocabulary from the very first time, introduction vocabulary to the studentfacilities the learners to achieve their skills in English. The problems of thisresearch are what kinds of short stories does the teacher utilize in teachingEnglish vocabulary? How does the teacher utilize short stories is teachingEnglish vocabulary? What are the strengths of utilizing short stories in teachingEnglish vocabulary? What are the weaknesses of utilizing short stories inteaching English vocabulary?. The aims of this research are to find out the kindsof short stories utilized by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary. Todescribe how the teacher utilizes short stories is teaching English vocabulary; todescribe the strengths of utilizing short stories in teaching English vocabulary;to describe the weaknesses of utilizing short stories in teaching Englishvocabulary. To get the specific information and the data, the writer use fieldresearch (observation and interview with the teacher at SLTPN 4 Depok).Subject of the research is the English teacher of SLTPN 4 Depok teaches. Thisresearch uses descriptive method. Its purpose to describe the techniqueemployed by the teacher in teaching English vocabularies to the junior highschool students. It also aims at describing the strengths and the weaknesses ofusing short stories in improving the students of English vocabulary. After thedata had been analyzed, this study shows: the kinds of short stories utilized inteaching English vocabulary, the technique in teaching English vocabulary usingshort stories, the strength utilizes short stories in teaching English vocabulary,the weakness utilizes short stories in teaching English vocabulary.
