摘要：ABSTRACT :The aims of this study are to find out about the equivalence of Indonesianpolitical and administrative institutions terms into English and to find out thecharacteristic of equivalence of the Indonesian political and administrativeinstitutions terms. This research uses a descriptive method. The writer collected,classified, and described all the data in the result of the study by using thismethod. To get the data, the writer find it in the article of Kompas for the sourcelanguage and from The Jakarta Post for the target language and identified theterms of Indonesian political and administrative institutions carefully. Basically,the writer analyzes the data with five activities: edited the data, classified,calculated the characteristics of equivalence, and explain the characteristics. Theresults show that the kinds of equivalences find in this study are one-to-oneequivalence (86%), descriptive equivalence (8%), and transference (6%). Inaddition, the writer is facing specific Indonesian political and administrativeinstitutions terms that do not have equivalence. Therefore, the best way tocommunicate the meaning is by using descriptive equivalence.
