摘要：Translation is really needed nowadays. Itis one of the ways of exchanginginformation. The most important thingwhen translating the source text is that themeaning of any word/or sentence must beequivalent. One of the examples istranslating English Modals. This studyaims to find out the analysis of translationof modals will, would, can, could. It isimportant to conduct this study becausethe translation of those modals can bevarious and the writer sometimes finds outdifficulties in translating those modals intoIndonesian. In this study,the writerimplements a descriptive method. All thedata analyzed in this study are in the formof words not in the form number. Theresult of this study the writer makes theconclusion that first, modal will, would,can, and could in the novel “Harry Potterand The Chamber of Secret” are mostlytranslated into Indonesia modals which areexpress ability, obligation, possibility.
