摘要：Reading a novel is something interesting. It can bring a pleasure and knowledge to the readers. Itis one of ways to appreciate a work of literature. When the writer reads this novel, he isinterested in discussing the moral aspects in the main character, because this is one of RobertLouis Stevenson’s great horror and thus a pillar of what most critics take to be the apex of RobertLouis Stevenson dramatic art. Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’s novel that is full rangeof emotion, incident, mystery and horror aspects, which makes the reader’s felling unsteady.This novel tells us about a dual personality much depicted in plays and films, also influential inthe growth of understanding of the subconscious mind through its treatment of a kind andintelligent physician who turns into a psychopathic monster after imbibing a drug intended toseparate good from evil in a personality. Mr. Utterson is a British lawyer who wants to prove thatHyde is a foul, twisted, shrunken creature that had brutally stomped a little girl and beaten an oldman to death with no reason. In his way to prove, Mr.Utterson faced by a lot of mysteries andincidents. Mr. Utterson is a character that essentially describes the play’s main plot, takes a keypart in it, and gives fist-hand direction to the others. The writer’s aim of study in this thesis is todescribe the moral aspects in the main character in Strange Case of DR. Jekyll and MR. Hyde. Inthis research method, the writer used two sources of data, the main source and the secondarysource. The main source is taken from novel entitled Strange Case of DR. Jekyll and MR. Hydeand the secondary source is taken from Internet, and furthermore. The writer uses a libraryresearch technique by collecting data from libraries and others references books. Internetservices also are the source information for the writer. In analyzing data the writer wascategorizing the moral aspects of Mr. Utterson found in the novel Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll andMr. Hyde into three parts such as individual, his relation to society, and his relation to God, thenexplain the data, and making conclusions. The result of this research showed that moral aspectsof Mr. Utterson; as an individual is a good person; he had good relation to society and he had agood relation to God. So he is a kind person.
