摘要：This paper argues for the role of contextual values in the shaping of scientific theories and practices through decisions concerning the definition of research problems, methods and aims. The analysis of the development of sexology from its origins in 19 th century Germany to the feminist criticisms of Masters and Johnson's paradigm shows how contextual values, by setting epistemic priorities, contribute to the establishment of criteria for the acceptance or rejection of theories and practices.
