摘要:The article proposes a discussion of the debates and the political processes opened in Latin America since the 1990s regarding the acknowledgement of the multicultural and multiethnic nature of the region’s nations. The protagonists of these processes are indigenous organizations and their political autonomy demands. Both agents approach autonomy objectives from different perspectives, including projects that range from a progressive decentralization that would give indigenous institutions greater authority —especially at the local level and embodied in the figure of the indigenous-rural community— to a deeper process of state restructure that would lead to the establishment of autonomous indigenous regions or provinces
