摘要：The present paper draws upon the reading of some recent literary works, which have been related to the travel book by literary criticism, yet remain problematic when attempting to determine their generic ascription. In this regard, the paper aims at (a) looking into the formal and structural characteristics common to all of them, (b) establishing the degree in which they differ from the canonical travel book as a genre in its own right, and (c) proposing a new organization and classification of the texts subsumed under the travel book category.
