摘要:This research approaches theoretical and methodological conceptions about the introduction and utilization of computers in education and in society. Thus, consideration is given to the utilization of computers in the classroom, through a study that investigates how the new technologies are being incorporated in the public school system of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Emphasis is given to the approach offered by some university professors concerning the introduction and dissemination of computing in teaching. Some reflections about the present trends in Mathematics Education in relation to the new technologies are presented, by making explicit the theoretical-methodological presuppositions of the Logo Computer Language (Bidimensional and Tridimensional). In addition, some pedagogical and mathematical aspects related to the applicability of Logo Tridimensional in the process of building geometrical concepts are described. Under these perspectives, one tries to answer the following investigation problem: is it possible to redeem the didactic-cognitive possibilities of Tridimensional Logo in the pedagogical exploration of geometrical concepts? In order to achieve that, some theoretical-methodological considerations are presented about the Case Study conducted in this research, which microgenetically analyses the mental and computational processes of two subjects attending the 8th grade in a private school in Campinas, SP, in problem solving situations, conceived as design activities. It is also delineated a dialectic relation between the problem solving description processes in the Logo environment (Bidimensional and Tridimensional) inserted in an animation context – AVI Constructor –, and the functional components of the cognitive processes of the researched subjects, with the objective of setting forth methodological considerations, thus providing teachers and researchers in Mathematics Education with a reflection on their teaching practice, and an opportunity for them to adapt it to the new needs that have become imperative with the advance of technology and consequently to contribute to a possible redimensioning in the teaching/learning process of Geometry.
