摘要:Place value is one of the topics in elementary school mathematics. This topic is taught to students from first grade to sixth grade. Place value concept is very useful in naming, comparing, rounding numbers, understanding the algorithms of addition, substraction, multiplication, division, and later developing decimals and percentages. The ability to master this topic is not as is expleted. In classrom instruction the students rare by use manipulative materials. This paper discussed the teaching of place value using concrete, semiconcrete, semiabstract, and abstract approachs. These approaches are in accordance with student mental development.
