摘要:The humorist P.J. O’Rourke said, “Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.” It is a witty but sadly accurate statement. One of my goals in Congress is to reduce the size and role of the federal government. When I leave Congress, I hope to have less power than when I arrived. Another goal is to make the unelected bureaucracy of federal agencies more accountable to Congress and, by extension, to the American people. In November 2013, I was asked to join the House Appropriations Committee, which provides a unique opportunity to work on both goals.
