摘要：The article intends to analyse the patriot discourses based on the concepts of governability in Foucault and myth in Roland Barthes built up about the city of Curitiba in the 19th century and in the begining of the 20th century by european travelers and chroniclers. These discourses are analysed like important elements on the build on the pacific, disciplined and laborious town, trought capitalist trade relations. It is where the continuous action of the town towards progress and development takes place.↓O artigo pretende a análise, a partir dos conceitos de governamentalida-de em Foucault e de mito em Roland Barthes, do corpo de discursos ufanistas elaborados sobre a cidade de Curitiba no século XIX e início do século XX por viajantes e cronistas. Estes discursos são analisados como elementos constituin-tes da urbe ordeira, disciplinada e laboriosa, palco por excelência das relações de mercado capitalista, cenário onde se desenrola a ação contínua e permanente da cidade no rumo do progresso e do desenvolvimento.
