  • 摘要:Background: the C-Reactive protein (CRP) is a biomarker for systemic disease that is considered in recent years as an emerging risk factor for cardiovascular disease in adults. Few studies conducted in children have assessed the C - reactive protein and blood lipids. Objective: to determine the association between CRP and blood lipids in children participating in a Food Complement Program, alliance MANA-ICBF. Antioquia-Colombia. Methodology: this is a cross sectional analytical study. Population and sample: 2.754 low income children were recruited from the research “Social and economic context, nutritional status, health conditions and food intake participating in a food complement program alliance MANA and ICBF. Antioquia-Colombia”, the sample for this study consisted of 201 children with high CRP levels and 201 children with normal CRP. Results: he mean and the median of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) was low for children with highest levels of CRP (p=0,034). Children with high CRP, shown elevated relation of TC/HDL-C (OR=1.8) CI 95% [1, 03-3, 16], p =0,037 compared to children with normal CRP. Conclusion: children with high levels of CRP are more feasible to have high TC/HDL-c ratio, that is considered a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
