摘要：http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/2175-8042.2011v23n37p156O artigo busca investigar a relação existente entre o poder público e a violência presente no futebol e contribui para o entendimento do Estado como detentor do monopólio da violência. A metodologia utilizada baseou-se na literatura e em artigos de jornais que noticiaram acontecimentos violentos presentes no futebol brasileiro. O Estatuto de Defesa do Torcedor foi a intervenção estatal mais atuante no combate à violência presente no futebol brasileiro. Confirmamos a existência de relação entre o poder público e o futebol através de leis que garantem ao público pagante um espetáculo de futebol com bem-estar e segurança.
其他摘要：This article to investigate the relationship between the public power and the violence at football and to contribute in the understanding of the State as holder of the violence monopoly. The methodology used is based in the literature, in articles and in newspapers that announce events presents in Brazilian football. The Supporters Defense Statute was the state intervention more active in combating the violence in Brazilian football. Confirmed there is a relationship between public power and the football through laws that guarantee the paying public a spectacle of football with well-being and security.
