摘要：Entre as entrevistas realizadas para uma pesquisa sobre mulheres sobreviventes num campo de concentração, a entrevista feita com Ruth A. possui um interesse particular, na medida em que ela mostra quão facilmente, embora de maneira equivocada, o silêncio pode ser considerado como esquecimento. Os obstáculos encontrados no decorrer desta entrevista e as discussões que ela ensejou trouxeram à luz a inscrição de quaisquer história e memória individuais numa história e memória coletivas. Eles também demonstraram que histórias e memórias devem ser relacionadas aos locais onde elas foram produzidas, assim como aos públicos aos quais elas se destinam. Tal análise do relato de vida deve ser considerada como uma reconstrução da identidade e não apenas como uma narrativa factual. The question of the unspeakable - Abstract: Among the interviews conducted in the course of research on women concentration camp survivors the interview with Ruth A. is particularly interesting because it shows how easily, but wrongly, silence can be taken forforgetting. The obstacles encountered throughout this interview and the discussions to which they gave risebring to light the inscription of all individual history and memory in a collective history and memory. They also demonstrate that history and memories have to be related to their sites of production just as much as to theaudiences for which they are intended. Such an analysis of the life story suggests that it has to be regarded as are construction of identity and not simply as a factual narrative.
