摘要：The author aims to analyze pelota as a framework for concepts of meaning and worldview. Cultural meanings merge at a juncture, bringing about the possibility of change within an otherwise resilient pattern of communion between players and spectators. The author contends that pelota has had a central role in the formation and reproduction of Basques’ collective consciousness —a ritual exercise, nowadays turned into an industrialized sport, that represents an expressive act of cultural founding while transmitting elementary narratives of the bond of identity.
